We recognize that you have the primary responsibility for seeing that your child is consistently dressed for school in garments and styles that promote learning, ensure safety, and display personal pride and responsibility.  We appreciate and need your support in helping your child select and wear school clothing that is consistent with these district guidelines for student attire.

While doing your back-to-school shopping, please note the following list of clothing items that are not appropriate for school:

*Styles, designs or wording that promotes substance abuse (drugs, alcohol, tobacco)

*Styles, colors or writing that promotes gang activity or affiliation

The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department works closely with us to let us know which clothing items are not safe or appropriate for students.  Current examples of gang-related items are: jackets and shirts with Los Angeles Kings, LA/Oakland Raiders, Chicago Bulls, Chicago White Sox and New Jersey Nets professional logos; hanging belts or chains; loose fitting black pants worn with white T-shirts; suspenders worn off the shoulder; Old English or graffiti-like writing; red or blue accessories; and gloves.

*Styles that create a distraction from the educational goals of the school

*Makeup for elementary students is discouraged

*Extremely large, baggy clothing

*Clothing that promotes violent or antisocial behavior

*Clothing that is sexually suggestive or includes sexual innuendoes  (Examples of unacceptable clothing are low-cut tops, bare midriffs, high cut skirts or shorts, clothing with see-through holes, strapless or off-the-shoulder tops,  spaghetti straps or any clothing that does not cover undergarments.)

*Clothing or shoes that do not allow students to participate safely in play or Physical Education activities

*Clothing, jewelry or other accessories that create a safety hazard to the wearer or to others

This district-wide policy applies to every student in the Central School District.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!!
