Valle Vista Elementary School

Mrs. Sowa-Interim Principal

Principal's Page

January, 2018

Dear Valle Vista Parents,

It is during a very sad time for all Valle Vista folks, little and big, that our Superintendent, Donna Libutti has asked me to return to Central School District as the Interim Principal of Valle Vista for the remainder of this school year. The unexpected passing of Mrs. Weaver in December was a great shock to all, students, parents, staff, and community. Mrs. Weaver had been my colleague, my neighbor, and my friend. She left Valle Vista folks with many fond memories of a loving principal, who gave so much to so many.

I have been very touched to be so warmly welcomed by everyone. I retired from Central School District after serving as Principal at Coyote Canyon School for many years. In retirement, I have worked part-time as an Administrative Coach, supporting Principals at many schools in the San Bernardino and Los Angeles areas. In retirement, my husband and I moved to San Diego area, where we thoroughly enjoy being close to our family, including our three FUN grandchildren.

I look forward to meeting more of you, as I strive to continue to support the academic excellence in the KIND, caring environment that IS Valle Vista School.

Principal's Initiatives

Catch 'em Being Good Assemblies

Each month we celebrate student accomplishments and behavior with a Catch 'em Being Good Assembly. Hawk tickets are distributed by teachers and staff to "Catch 'em Being Good" all around the campus. These little tickets remind students they are doing the right thing and that adults are noticing. At the beginning of each month, classes meet as a grade level and Hawk tickets are drawn for incentives such as gift certificates from local businesses. We also award great readers, and our monthly "Responsible Student."

Treats with the Principal

Treats with the Principal is a way to reward students for their success in academics, behavior, and character. It allows the principal to personally get to know students and build relationships. This is what Valle Vista is all about.

Responsible Student of the Month

As a part of our character education program, each classroom teacher recommends a student to be recognized as a role model for others, demonstrating responsibility on a regular basis.
