The Kindness Adventure comes to Valle Vista!

NED's Kindness Adventure visited Valle Vista on September 5, 2018 for 1st-5th grade.  It was an incredible experience, as we went along NED's journey to Kenya in Africa.  It gave us a different perspective on what it's like to be a kid in a different part of the world. Stop Breathe & Think

Stop, Breathe & Think is an excellent website for both students and parents.  It is a great way to start the morning or to finish the day.  Relaxation and breathing is what it is all about.  Check it out to see if it fits the needs of anyone in your family.  A stress free day= a happier life!

Counselor's Page

Hello!  My name is Ms. Murphy and I am the lucky school counselor of Valle Vista Elementary

As I explain to our students at the beginning of each year, my job is to try and help them have the best days that they can possibly have.  I try and accomplish this through character education, teaching them problem solving skills, and pushing them to set higher goals for themselves.

I will use this page to post  resources that I believe you might find useful at home.  Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns.

Kindness Matters

Did you know that kindness matters?  Well, it truly does and people don't forget the way you treated them.  We are working hard to make sure that all of our Valle Vista Hawks understand this idea and are doing their best to sprinkle kindness all around.  We have Kindness Matters Wednesday two times each month.  Valle Vista students are encouraged to wear a kindness shirt and teachers are provided simple but meaningful activities/lessons for the classroom.  One way we have accomplished this goal was by inviting The NED Show to our school back in November 2015 to educate our students about never giving up, encouraging others, and doing their best.  NED came back in 2017 and reminded us of his important message.  I have included the parent link to their website that has awesome resources for you to use at home.  Learn more about the NED Show parent resources.

The picture below is our Wall of Kindness that we built brick by brick in January 2016, with the help of our kind students.

Promoting A college and career mentality

This year at Valle Vista, we are continuing to instill in our students the need to begin thinking about setting a college or career goal for the future.  The first Wednesday of each month is College Day!  The staff and students are encouraged to wear a college shirt or college colors of a school they are interested in.  I provide goal setting resources (books, video clips, lesson ideas, college choice surveys) for the teachers to use that day or week and so far it seems to be working...our Valle Vista Hawks are excited about the idea of college and their future!
