A Letter from the Principal....

Dear Valle Vista Families,

I want to welcome all of you to the 2018-2019 school year.  As the new principal of Valle Vista, I am looking forward to an exciting year!  We will also be welcoming the following new staff additions- Alexa Espiritu (1st grade), Carly Forbes (2nd grade), and Mandy Bernard (librarian).    I know the beginning of the school year is a busy time for everyone, so I wanted to make sure to include the important information needed for a successful start to the school year.  Please check the Valle Vista website  throughout the year for important updates and information.

A new change for Valle Vista families is Data Confirmation.  Data Confirmation will replace most of the back to school paperwork that was sent home at the beginning of the year.  To complete Data Confirmation parents must login to the Aeries Parent Portal.  The link to the parent portal can be found on the Valle Vista website (quick links/left side).  Last May, parents were emailed a link to complete the set-up process/create password.  If you can’t find the set-up email, go the portal and click “forgot password” to create a new password.  The email used when registering your child, must be the same email used to login to the portal.  Data Confirmation is great because it greatly reduces the amount of time parents will have to spend completing beginning of the year forms.  Our goal is for all our families to complete Data Confirmation before school starts.  If you have any questions, please call the Valle Vista office at 981-8697.

To protect the privacy of students, we will be sharing classroom teacher assignments differently this year.   Orientations will be held to share this information with families. Please plan to attend one of the orientations listed below.
       Kindergarten-Friday, August 3 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Information presentation for parents (Serves as Back-to School Night for Kindergarten)
       1st-5thGrade-Wednesday, August 1 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Parents will be able to pick up their child’s class assignment and complete their Data
Confirmation in the computer lab (if needed).
At the orientations, PTA will also be available to answer questions and sell Hawk spirit wear.  Valle Vista students are encouraged to wear a Valle Vista spirit shirt on Fridays and a college/kindness shirt on Wednesdays.   If families are not able to attend an orientation, parents may call the office for class information.  Parents calling the office, will be asked to confirm their identify before class assignments are given.  Class assignment information will also be available on the first day of school starting at 7:45 a.m.

On the first day of school, parents are welcome to walk their students onto campus.  Starting the second day of school, we ask that parents say goodbye at drop-off.  Students may be dropped off in the morning at 8:10 a.m.  Students eating breakfast may be dropped off at 7:50 a.m. in the office.  For the safety of your child, please do not drop off students before 8:10 a.m. unless they are eating breakfast.  For information about breakfast and online meal applications, please visit .  If families need childcare before or after school, please visit the Kid Central website .

The first day of school is on Tuesday, August 7th and is a regular school day with school beginning at 8:30 a.m. and dismissing at 2:25 p.m. for grades 1-3 and 2:45 p.m. for grades 4-5All Kindergarten students will attend 8:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. on August 7th and August 8th.  Early Hawk/Late Hawk schedule will begin on Thursday, August 9thRemember that all Kindergarten students attend 8:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. on Wednesdays.

All students will also be participating in a “Back to School Assembly” in which the rules, consequences, and positive incentives are reviewed so that all students know what it takes to be a “Successful Hawk”.  Once the assemblies have been completed, I encourage families to go to the Valle Vista webpage and review the presentation with your child.  I look forward to a positive relationship that puts all Hawks on the path to success.

Valle Vista’s Back-to-School-Night will be held on Wednesday, August 22nd from 6:00-7:00 p.m. for grades 1-5.  This is an adult only evening in which teachers will share classroom expectations for the year.  There will be two sessions offered.  The 1st session will be from 6:00-6:30 p.m. and the 2nd session will be from 6:30-7:00 p.m. Teachers will repeat their presentation for each session to accommodate parents with multiple children.  PTA will be holding a PTA Association Meeting at 5:15-6:00 p.m.  All families are invited to attend, and it is a great way to get involved with our amazing PTA.

LobbyGuard is a new safety feature that the Central School District will be implementing this year.  Visitors and volunteers entering the Valle Vista campus will be required to present identification to the office staff.  Accepted forms of identification include any state issued driver’s license or identification card, Mexican Matricula Consular Card, Military ID (active duty or retired), or a Permanent Resident Card.  Once the visitor/ID has been cleared through LobbyGuard, the system will print a visitor badge with the name, picture, and destination of the visitor.  Parents may visit the Valle Vista homepage or for more information.

Blackboard Connect reminders will also be coming home periodically as well to help keep everyone up to date.  For more information about Blackboard, please go to .

Thank you for being such an important part of your child’s success at Valle Vista.  If you are interested in starting your school supply shopping, 1st-5th Grade supply list links can be found on the Valle Vista homepage.  Kindergarten supply lists were sent home with the welcome letter.

Please join me on the first day of school at 8:30 a.m. in the MPR for “Coffee with the Principal” where we can talk about all of the reasons why Valle Vista is “The Best School in the World!”   Thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy letter.  I am looking forward to a wonderful 2018-2019 school year!
